Dear EFE parents & families,
With the second semester well under way, we want to thank everyone for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school as we collectively strive to provide optimal opportunities for learning each and every day. It is so hard to believe that third quarter will soon be coming to a close. This is a very busy time of year with conferences quickly approaching. We really enjoy this great opportunity to meet with you face to face and to share out what your child has been learning this school year. Our staff looks forward to talking with you about the positive things that are happening in class, as well as ways we can challenge your child to reach their full potential at school. If you have not yet received something to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher, please be patient as it will be coming very soon.
I too want to encourage you to pay close attention to our upcoming dates. This is the time of year when there are many things that will be taking place over the next couple months. Some events to pay close attention to include the Speedy Spoofhound, Field Day, grade level field trips and park days, etc. GO will also be providing some additional activities for both our parents and students. These dates are regularly added to our upcoming events within our office newsletter, as well as on the EFE website. I hope that everyone is receiving our grade level newsletters via e-mail each week. This also will help you keep up on any upcoming events. If for some reason you are not receiving yours, please check with the office to make sure your contact information is up to date.
One additional thing that I would like to inform you of is that our Preschool and Kindergarten registration dates are now set (see upcoming events), so please go ahead and mark those on your calendar. If you have family and friends that may be interested in this information as well, I ask that you help us spread the word. I also want to take a moment to let you know that our preschool options are a little different for the 2014-2015 school year. In hopes to better spiral our curriculum and help make our program more academically focused for our students, we will only be offering half day options of AM 5 days a week and PM 5 days a week. We no longer will have the 2, 3, or 5 day option. Unfortunately our current set-up creates some challenges as different students come each day and therefore we find it very hard to build upon what the students have learned the day before. I hope that you understand this is in hopes to better prepare our students for kindergarten. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
In closing, I want to thank you for your diligence in having your students at school on-time and well-prepared for learning each day. One final reminder is that I would like to strongly encourage you to use our unloading zone that has been marked with the yellow paint during drop off in the mornings. This allows multiple cars to drop off at the same time and keep this line moving. As always, thank you for supporting the wonderful teaching and learning taking place here at Eugene Field!
